As we age, we need to be careful to prevent falls. My friend just slipped on a loose rug and did a lot of damage to her leg. Charlie Colin, bassist for Train, just passed away from a slip and fall in his shower.
A couple of years ago I broke my ankle. I slipped on my dog’s throw up in our hallway. The hallway was dark and I did not see it. This fall ruined a summer beach trip.

We added night lights to our hallways. They automatically turn on as you walk down the hall. Small changes make a big difference. The night lights were a cheap and simple solution to preventing a slip and fall.

Here are some simple tips to stay safe.

  1. Improve lighting and ensure all areas of your home is well lit.
  2. Use non-slip mats in your bathrooms and kitchen.
  3. Remove hazards and keep your floors free of clutter and loose rugs. Use non-slip mats for your rugs.
  4. Keep floors dry.
  5. Use no-slip products for your bathtub if you do not have anti slip product applied to it.
